Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections are a popular, aesthetic treatment used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  These injections work by using a small amount of anti-wrinkle treatment to reduce or freeze the movement in targeted muscles in the face, by blocking the transmission of nerve endings local to the muscle.

This means the underlying muscle contractions and expressions in the target area, are reduced, and the wrinkling of the overlying skin is therefore reduced. The intention is therefore to prevent the the formation of lines and wrinkles, as well as reducing the appearance of existing ones.

Anti-wrinkle injections can be targeted the reduction of lines on the forehead, around the eyes, and between the eyebrows.  They usually last several months, and can be repeated as needed.

They are a safe and effective treatment when used by skilled and qualifies practitioners:  As they are a prescription-only medicine, meaning that that can be used by aesthetics practitioners who are medically qualified, for example nurses, midwives, dental professionals or doctors, who have had with additional specialist training in aesthetics.
