Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
Integrative child and adolescent psychotherapy utilises a range of theories and techniques in order to best meet the needs of each individual child. This includes using play and creativity to help children express themselves. Child psychotherapists work with children up to the age of 18, however it is possible to continue therapy when a child passes the age of 18. The focus is upon building a relationship and improving mental health while taking into account all factors of the child’s life. This may mean that work is done with the parents/carers, social care, health and education. Difficulties may include depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, and emotional/behavioural difficulties.
